Squeeze casting is liquid die forging. Its principle is to apply a high and continuous casting pressure to the liquid or semi-solid metal injected into the cavity to make it solidify and crystallize, and obtain high-quality castings.
The high-pressure solidified casting has a dense structure, no defects such as pores and porosity, and has fine grains. It can be subjected to T6 heat treatment. Its mechanical properties are significantly higher than that of ordinary castings, and it is close to the level of forgings of the same alloy. It is an excellent process for achieving lightweight.
Mold filling and solidification are two important links in the squeeze casting process, and low-speed mold filling and rapid high-pressure feed solidification are typical characteristics of liquid die forging.
